Internship: RN student or Rehab Student Scholar in Home Health

Internship - Scholar in Home Health – Summer 2020 Working under the direct supervision of VNSNY Registered Nurse(s) or Specialist(s), the Nurse or Rehabilitation Scholar will be responsible for participating in one or more of the following areas within a specific program: Service Delivery, Health Education, Operations and other Learning Experiences. The Scholar may assist in: 1) the identification, assessment and delivery of patient care 2) the creation of effective teaching materials and beneficial health promotion activities for patients consistent with Agency philosophy, policy, objectives and Standards of Clinical Practice 3) the review of documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulation 4) the coordination of day-to-day activities 5) entering, collecting, researching, compiling and/or verifying data and developing, running and/or monitoring related reports 6) identifying problems and resolving/escalating issues as necessary.


Responsibilities

Internship - Scholar in Home Health – Summer 2020
Working under the direct supervision of VNSNY Registered Nurse(s) or Specialist(s), the Nurse or Rehabilitation Scholar will be responsible for participating in one or more of the following areas within a specific program: Service Delivery, Health Education, Operations and other Learning Experiences. Qualifications: Required interest in Home Health Care and Community Health as a Career.

Education:

Current enrollment in accredited program for Bachelors of Science in Nursing required. Cumulative GPA 3.3 or higher required. Successful completion of junior level nursing courses and clinical rotations as student prepares to enter senior year.

OR

Current enrollment in accredited program for Masters in Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy. Successful completion of one master level semester with direct patient care and clinical responsibilities.

Skills: Proficiency with personal computer required. Intermediate level Word and Excel proficiency required. Effective oral/written communication and presentation skills required.


Qualifications

RN students need to have completed their junior year - scholars are entering their senior year

Rehab students need to be in Masters level program PT or OT - and have completed at least one clinical semester.
