Project Manager, Business Intelligence & Analytics
Created in 1998, VNSNY CHOICE is the managed care affiliate of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York and shares its mission of compassion and care for the poor, the chronically ill and elderly. Our guiding principle is to help the most vulnerable among us live safely and independently for as long as possible in their own homes and communities. VNSNY CHOICE has 700 employees, including 227 care management staff. On any given day, VNSNY CHOICE coordinates care for more than 40,000 members through its array of Medicare and Medicaid health plans, including Medicaid Long Term Care, Medicare Advantage, and a HIV/Special Needs Plan. With offices in Manhattan, Brooklyn and upstate New York, VNSNY CHOICE health plans are available in the New York City metropolitan area as well as on a plan basis in selected counties throughout New York State.
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
The Project Manager, Business Intelligence & Analytics ("BIA") for VNSNY CHOICE designs, leads and oversees complex business intelligence projects. Employs business information systems, data warehousing and data mining techniques to identify and serve long-term needs of managed care health plans; has broad discretion to develop and lead new BIA projects to support strategic planning efforts by CHOICE leadership, to improve operational efficiency and enhance plan profitability, and to identify and implement new business initiatives to address needs of a changing healthcare marketplace. Ensures that projects and all components are designed and executed to achieve strategic goals and comply with regulations. Defines core business processes, maps current states for each health plan, as precursor to redesign; assists with solution design. Develops strong understanding of CHOICE strategic goals and business unit operations for each health plan, to identify and address relevant business intelligence and data analysis needs. Defines project scope, develops project plans and budgets, launches implementation, manages projects closely to monitor progress toward stated goals. Tracks adherence to project budgets and time frames. Responds to changes in circumstances during project life cycle, with focus on rapid problem resolution with project team and CHOICE leadership. Leads evaluation process at project close. Participates in interdisciplinary and interdepartmental working groups; oversees creation and delivery of presentations on project status and outcomes to senior management. Supervises 1 Senior Business Analyst, who gathers data from units across health plan provider, designs analytical approaches and conducts detailed analysis of business processes for strategic planning, operational efficiency and health plan participant satisfaction, to enhance plan quality and profitability.
Education: Requires Master’s in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, IT Management or closely allied field.
Experience: Requires 3 years progressive experience in consulting, operations, or financial analysis for managed care health plans. Experience must include minimum 2 years as project lead/project manager with data warehouse and data architecture projects, and 1 year experience abstracting claims data for business analytics. Must have delivered at least one successful data warehouse project for health plans.
