Directs the identification and development of new products, as well as the expansion of existing service lines and other value-creation opportunities that support VNSNY’s strategic goals and mission. Focuses on evaluation and/or implementation of opportunities that can be brought to market by VNSNY directly, or via potential partnerships with external parties, such as investments, joint ventures and licensing. Works closely with internal stakeholders, including leadership of lines of business, to evaluate and identify VNSNY and market business needs, develop the business case and operating model for new revenue generating opportunities, and to spearhead launch and implementation of new products. Manages the Product Strategy group.
Directs the identification and evaluation of new product opportunities across all VNSNY lines of business. Works with other departments to determine value proposition, strategic fit, and concept design, as well as establish marketing program development and financial analysis.
Sources new product opportunities for VNSNY in collaboration with internal stakeholders; leads VNSNY’s new product ideation process.
Directs ongoing analysis of market trends to inform VNSNY’s new product strategy.
Collaborates with Marketing department in overseeing marketing research activities to produce marketing insights that inform VNSNY’s new product strategy.
Fosters trusting and collaborative relationships with leadership team across VNSNY to identify and understand business needs and new product opportunities; acts as a subject matter expert for new product strategy.
Collaborates with Government and Regulatory Affairs team, and external regulatory stakeholders to inform new product opportunities in New York and other states.
Works with leadership and internal stakeholders to prioritize all new product opportunities.
Drives the development of operating models and business cases to support potential new products, partnerships or investments, in close collaboration with VNSNY operational and support areas.
Directs the implementation of new product opportunities given the green light by leadership for go-ahead, including negotiations and contracting, as necessary.
Participates in enterprise-wide short/long-range strategic planning by providing or overseeing analyses on new product development opportunities.
Demonstrates department’s commitment to excellent customer service through prompt response to all internal and external customers. Represents the department’s capabilities and VNSNY mission effectively to internal and external customers.
Oversees and directs the creation and delivery of presentations on product development status and/or outcomes to management.
Keeps up to date on the latest issues and trends in healthcare service delivery and care management through networking, professional memberships, and select journal reading. Synthesizes trends and determines application and integration into department.
Performs all duties inherent in a senior managerial role. Approves staff training, hiring, promotions, terminations and salary actions, prepares and ensures adherence to the department budget.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field of study required.Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of eight years product development and/or product strategy experience including at least three years in a management role required.Prior experience in external partnership development a plus.Demonstrated knowledge of developing the business case and/or the business plan for new products, including using marketing research findings, data analysis, concept design and testing approaches, and financial analysis required. Excellent leadership, project-planning and problem solving skills required.Demonstrated strong financial/analytical/quantitative skills and verbal/written communication skills required.Proficient personal computer skills, including MS applications, required.Knowledge of the health care industry and NYS, other states and federal regulatory environment preferred.
