Looking for a Senior Substance Abuse Counselor who is a substance use specialist with at least 1 year experience working in a treatment setting in the community. Must be willing to meet with client's in the community
Provides direct substance abuse counseling to chronically mentally ill clients in the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program in collaboration with the multidisciplinary staff off the ACT Program. Responsible for integrating dual-recovery treatment with the tasks of other ACT team members. Works under general supervision.
Licensure: Current registration to practice as a Licensed Social Worker in New York State and / or Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling Certificate Program (CASAC) certification preferred. Valid driver's license required. Education: Master's Degree in Social Work, Health Care Administration, or a related field required. Experience: Minimum of one year of training and/or experience in integrated mental health and substance abuse treatment required. Demonstrated skill or knowledge in substance abuse assessment and diagnosis, principles and practices of harm reduction, application of stage-wise treatment and motivational interviewing strategies required. Bilingual skills may be required, as determined by operational needs.
